Purchasing Advice

With the collector we draw the lines of a collection, and in accordance with his personal taste, we build an ensemble that is both coherent and irreproachable as to its quality.

Each chosen artist is selected and situated in an international context in order to understand his importance and merit. Each chosen work is situated within the artist’s oeuvre in order to assess its quality and importance within the whole of his or her artistic creation. The work is evaluated in relation to the market and consolidated by several external opinions. The purchases through galleries or private and public sales are carried out as much as possible in total transparency.

Following the purchase we coordinate the insurance, transport, restoration, installation and other services.

Selling Advice

Evaluation of the works in light of previous sales realized on the public and private market. Selection of the best means of sale in line with the interests and priorities of the client. In the case of a small market it is often preferable to opt for private sale, at which point the choice of the right partners is essential. In the case of a large market or an exceptional piece, public sale can offer more opportunities.  Our experience and knowledge of this market allow us to negotiate the best interests of the sellers.

Following the sale we coordinate the insurance, transport, restoration, installation and other services.

Research

In addition to our knowledge and expertise acquired over time, we make use of a data bank and an extensive library that allow us to perform the necessary research at any given moment, so as to evaluate the quality of each work, its history and its provenance. A network of experts with whom we work on a regular and trustworthy basis allows us to extend our knowledge beyond our own limits.

Expertise

As an expert affiliated with the Belgian Chamber of Art Experts, the application of our expertise in insurance, succession or division forms part of our daily activity and is mainly focused on the fields of painting, drawing and engraving of the end of the 19th century, with a particular attention for James Ensor. Our expertise regarding 20th century art especially relates to the painting, drawing and sculpture of the Belgian school for the first half of the century, as well as the international schools for the second half of the 20th century, with an obvious focus on European and American art. We continuously follow the international contemporary art scene by tracking auctions and by visiting galleries, museums and art fairs.
