A collection is the achievement of a single person or a couple of enthusiasts. When they die, their descendants are often at a loss and benefit from professional and transparent guidance. As specialists in the protection of Flemish heritage, we were able to bring together the descendants of the Roger and Hilda Matthys collection, now the Matthys-Colle Foundation, and a public institution to create a long-term collaboration.
On this occasion, the work Great American Nude 45, 1963 by American artist Tom Wesselmann was acquired by the Flemish Community and given in long term loan to the SMAK in Ghent, where it is now accessible to the public.
